We’ve got exciting news for the future of BJJ here at Parity.

With Jimmys untimely passing we’ve been considering the best way to support and grow our Jiu Jitsu moving forward. We wanted to find a solution that honoured the vision and values we’ve been following over the last few years at both the academy and with Warwolf BJJ. High standards, strong community, freedom, independence and individuality - it had to tick all those boxes and then some.

After lots of research and big chats we found what we feel is the perfect move for the club.

Going forward we will be a Mauricio Gomes Legacy Affiliate.

For those that don’t know, Master Mauricio Gomes is a BJJ legend. Often called the Godfather of BJJ here in the UK, he started training with the legendary Rolls Gracie in 1977, and became one of only six people to be promoted to black belt by him in 1981.

Along with Masters Marcio Stambowsky, Romero ‘Jacare’ Cavalcanti and Sergio Penha, Mauricio was promoted to 8th degree red and white (coral) belt in 2017. This momentous achievement represents 38 years as a black belt and over 50 years training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

He also happens to be the father and coach of one of the greatest BJJ athletes of all time, Roger Gracie.

We’re looking forward to connecting with good authentic people who are passionate about jiu jitsu and helping people. And adding to a community that helps each other to be better for the students. We hope you are too!
